FAQs
Q1: Which style of release is more accurate, a single caliper or dual caliper?
A1: It's really not a matter of accuracy, but personal preference. Some people prefer the single caliper releases and others prefer the dual caliper. When tested, both styles are equally accurate, so it's just a matter of what you prefer.
Q2: How do I adjust the trigger tension on my Scott release?
A2: The tension adjustment screw is located at the base of the trigger. To increase travel and reduce sensitivity, turn the screw clockwise. To decrease travel and increase sensitivity, turn the screw counter-clockwise. Make only small adjustments at a time.
Q3: I have never shot a backtension release. Can you give me some pointers for shooting your Longhorn releases?
A3: All releases in the Longhorn series are pure backtension releases designed to be shot using a string loop. All Longhorn's come with interchangeable thumb pegs in three different sizes for a custom fit. This release is very simple to adjust---it has only one set screw which locks the half moon in place. The adjustment screw is located in the hole on the smooth side of the handle, about mid-way from the bottom. To adjust, simply loosen the screw and rotate the moon clockwise for a lighter setting, or counter-clockwise for a heavier setting. One can shoot the release with or without the click, since the "click" groove is machined only on one side of the half-moon. To change from click to no-click, simply loosen the adjustment screw mentioned above, and then press out the dowel pin that goes through the bracket and moon assembly. Flip the moon 180 degrees and reassemble, pressing the pin back through the bracket-moon assembly. Adjust to the desired setting, and then tighten the set screw back against the moon. Q4: I have a Hook & Loop Strap on my release. Can I change it to a Buckle Strap?
A4: Yes. All you need to do is call us at 606-663-2734 to order. We accept all major credit cards. The price is $17 plus S & H. We'll need to know which model of release that you have when you order so that you receive the correct connector setup.
